Tony O'Connor is an Australian composer, performer and recording artist. Tony began his recording career with the release of his enormously popular Music for Relaxation albums in the late 1980s. This collection grew and sold over 1.5 million copies within a few years and quickly established the Tony O'Connor sound and style that has made him a household name in his home country.
While his work in this field continues, Tony also scores and produces music for television and film and expands on his own album releases with new titles each year. While some of his later work sometimes doesn't focus on "relaxation", it still features an individual quality that listeners all around the world enjoy for creating a special atmosphere.
Tony is also involved in photography and videography, editing and production. Some of the videos Tony has filmed and edited himself are used in hospitals, centres and homes, featuring mostly naturescape images and music.
His album releases have earned unprecedented awards in Australia. Nearly every CD Tony has produced has achieved Gold Album status, while several have gone on to Platinum and even Triple Platinum Album Awards. Best Television Theme, Best New Album and Best Production awards have also been presented. To date over three million Tony O'Connor albums have been sold in Australia alone.
Tony lives in the Hinterlands of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia, with his wife Jacqui and daughter Samantha, where his studios sit nestled in the rainforest. He continues his work on creating music that is intended to "touch the soul" and inspire listeners around the world.
