My interest in writing came late in life (once I got old enough to finally know something; I like to think of it as a progressive learning thing) with my first published piece not appearing until Fate magazine picked up a feature-length article (on Bigfoot. What else?) in its March, 2002 issue. Striking up a good relationship with Fate's parent publisher, Galde Press, allowed me the opportunity to submit an entire manuscript for consideration, and in September of 2003, I was blessed with my first book: a healthy, bouncing 6" x 9" paperback entitled Reconsidering Atlantis: A New Look at a Prehistoric Civilization. After that I knew that writing was going to be my life's work and I never looked back.
Since then I have been busy working on a number of projects, the most recent being a book about reincarnation entitled, appropriately enough, The Mystery of Reincarnation (Llewellyn International) which hit the bookshelves in May of 2005. A second book, The Case for Ghosts, is currently slated to come out in July, 2006, and I am even looking to break into the fiction market as well. Additionally, I have been interviewed several times on the Erskine On The Radio program, as well as have been a guest on the Hilly Rose and Ryan Lindsey Shows (I especially enjoy doing radio-I'm told I have the face for it). I consider myself a tireless and, some might say, shameless self-promoter who is willing to talk to anyone stupid enough to shove a microphone in my face, and in that lies much of my charm.
My personal philosophy about life is that it is designed to be a journey of growth, both intellectually and spiritually, that must be lived with determination, compassion, and no small amount of humor (hopefully the self-effacing kind.) As for writing professionally, fame and wealth should not be the goals of writing (though they are acceptable consolation prizes); the point of the exercise is to give others a piece of yourself in the hopes that in your words they'll find something that speaks to their own needs, their own questions, or even their own heart. To have a stranger come up to you and thank you for expanding their awareness or giving them an answer to a question they have been struggling with for literally years is what writing is all about, and if you can happen to make a living doing that in the process, all the better. At least, that's how I see it.
